More about Ceramic Artist, Jon Stein

Jon Stein, dedicated potter and educator from Cincinnati, Ohio, found his lifelong passion for pottery at fifteen. After receiving his BFA from Northern Kentucky University Jon spent time in Japan, expanding his love for the art of wood firing.

His travels across the nation for teaching and artist residencies have broadened his skillset, influenced his work, and given him a unique opportunity to make an impact.

Jon firmly believes that creative experiences can greatly improve one's quality of life. He has put this belief into action by working with artists with developmental disabilities, and he is always eager to share practical tips and tricks to help everyone enjoy the art of pottery.

His passion for wood fired and atmospheric surfaces are apparent in his work. Following that passion Jon obtained his MFA at Utah State University, and in 2019, he became education director at Queen City Clay.

How did we Meet Jon?

We first saw Jon’s work during our visit to the 2023 NCECA conference. Jon’s work was one of many beautiful pieces on display at Queen City Clay. His one-of-a-kind candelabras were one of the many we saw during our visit.

His unique creations left a lasting impression, leading us to acquire one of his candelabras at the Flower City Pottery Invitational last fall, which we are proud to display at home.

Don’t miss your chance to meet Jon in-person, Register Now and see first-hand how he make his beautiful line of work. (Are you a club member? Don’t forget to use your club discount at checkout!)
