Our September semester of pottery classes is just around the corner, making this the perfect time to jump in if you’ve been thinking about learning pottery, meeting new people, or picking up a creative hobby. Whether you’re completely new to clay or returning to build your skills, our fall session has something for everyone.
Beginner-Friendly Pottery Classes
We specialize in helping new students feel comfortable in the studio from day one. If you’re brand new to pottery, start here:
Pottery 100: Intro to Pottery for New Students
A true beginner’s course—no experience necessary! You’ll explore both handbuilding and wheel throwing while learning the foundations of pottery.Pottery 101: Beginner Wheel 1 – Basics of Wheel Throwing
For students who want to focus on the wheel. You’ll learn centering, pulling clay, and building confidence in shaping basic forms.Pottery 102: Beginner Wheel 2 – Exploring Forms and Styles
Already comfortable with centering? This class introduces you to new techniques through historical ceramic forms like moon jars, pitchers, and more.Pottery 103: Beginner Wheel 3 – Dinnerware for Beginners
Perfect for beginners ready to step up their skills. You’ll design and create a two-person dinnerware set, learning how to throw and glaze functional forms.

Our studio is centrally located, just off the 390 expressway and minutes from neighborhoods like the South Wedge, 19th Ward, and Swillburg. We’re also easily accessible from Brighton, Henrietta, Gates, Greece, and Chili.
Students often come from nearby colleges and institutions, including RIT, MCC, the University of Rochester, and Strong Memorial Hospital. Whether you’re driving or biking, our studio is just a short trip away.
