Upcoming Workshop: Carving Cups with Artist Lukas Easton
The Wheel & Slab Pottery Club in Rochester, NY is thrilled to welcome ceramic artist Lukas Easton for a one-night-only carving demonstration and talk on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.
Celebrated for exploring narrative through surface and form, Lukas creates pieces that touch upon the challenges of staying informed in a world full of misinformation.
His work combines ideas of fog, decay and exhaustion, highlighting how reactionary or complacent we’ve become due to the overwhelming nature of the 24/7 new cycle, and the absence of contemplation we all deserve, but are sadly missing out on.

About the Workshop
Lukas will be discussing his unique approach to clay carving. During which he’ll share with you stories of his experiences working on a fishing boat in Alaska, working in a factory on a dinnerware set in Indonesia, and creating bodies of work throughout his time in higher education.
Plus, Lukas will touch on his thoughts on why you should create your own carving tools, he’ll share details on how he creates his own specialized tools, and he’ll give you a behind-the-scenes look at his own artistic process.
Whether you're a seasoned potter or a beginner, this workshop offers a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of ceramic art and surface decoration. There will be plenty of time to ask Lukas questions about his techniques, inspirations, and career as a ceramic artist.
And, keeping with tradition, we’re making it a potluck dinner! Bring a dish to share, enjoy great company, and spend the evening immersed in the wonderful world of ceramics.
