Our spring pottery classes are coming to a close, and that means our next session begins soon. If you’ve been thinking about taking a beginner pottery class or want to improve your throwing skills, summer is a great time to join us in the studio!
Pottery Classes for All Levels
At Wheel & Slab Pottery Club, we offer a variety of classes for all experience levels—from complete beginners to returning students who want to advance their techniques. Each course is taught by experienced instructors in a hands-on, supportive environment.
Pottery 100: Intro to Pottery - Our intro course is designed for beginners and covers the basics of both wheel throwing and handbuilding. It's a great introduction to the pottery studio, and for anyone new to clay.
Pottery 101: Beginner Pottery - Perfect for those who have completed Pottery 100 or who are brand new to clay. This course focuses on improving control at the wheel and introduces decorating and glazing techniques. No experience necessary!
Pottery 102: Skill Building - For students with prior experience, this course helps refine technique, introduces more complex forms, and supports the development of personal style and intention in your work.

Our studio is located in Rochester, NY, just off the 390 expressway, and minutes from neighborhoods like the South Wedge, 19th Ward, and local landmarks such as Swillburg. We're also easily accessible from surrounding areas including Brighton, Henrietta, Gates, Greece, and Chili.
We're proud to be part of a community that includes students, medical professionals, and residents from nearby colleges and institutions. If you're connected to RIT, MCC, the University of Rochester, or Strong Memorial Hospital, our studio is a short drive (or bike ride) away.
